Description
Tomorrow is the opening day of the Minnesota State Fair. I have wanted to upload this image for years (notice the date in the corner- from 2005...lol) but didn't find an appropriate time until now! My favorite time while at the fair is right after sunset when the Midway lights up with life and the sky is many hues of blue.

That's my favorite time at the fair, too. I tried my hand at some like this last year, but I wasn't happy with them. Your pov becomes really important...and the exposure. I'm going to try again, the next time the fair comes to town, and I hope mine come out half as good as this. Wonderful shot, Jodie. Have fun at the fair!

The CA State Fair opened last Friday and will run through Sept. 3rd. In fact, I plan to go this weekend. :-) I don't go to the midway but it is pretty from a distance at night. I hang out in the barn area, and the exhibit halls, the farming and ag areas and the country western stage and beer hall area... (shame on me...LOL) This is a wonderful shot and I'm glad you found a time to post it.

Wow! Really captures the spirit. You know, one trick I've used in the past that you might consider: I make two copies of a picture with contrast of sky and land at odds. One I adjust for the sky, the other for the foreground. I then layer one atop the other, using a transparent gradient to work the contrast down in each direction, so the foreground remains lighter while the background and sky are darkened. The result can be a picture that has a lot of details, yet obviously wasn't shot with a flash. Or, then again, you might just leave well enough alone;o) Keep up the good work!

Kentucky State fair has opened in Louisville...we used to go every year but I am too sick too this year..I miss the midway and the horse shows and the exhibit booths... Love the colors and lights in this image... Adding it to my favs..brings back so many wonderful memories... Thanks for posting this eye-pleaser:)And I hope your stay cool...100 here with heat index of 102...its is so overbearing and you can barely breathe and dangerous as well... Hugs Susan~

Superb lighting and it makes for a fantastic display. Capturing the movement of the people in the foreground creates a festive mood to it all. Excellent, you should have put this up a long time ago.
