Description

High on the cliffs above Whitby are the gaunt, imposing remains of Whitby Abbey. Founded in 657 by St. Hilda, Whitby Abbey has over the years been a bustling settlement. It was the home of Caedmon the poet, and the inspiration for Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula. It is about 4 miles from my home. I often walk up here to feel the history of this amazing place. It is a very peacefuI place to walk. I have a special friend who lives nearby! Blaize, who is a horse :-) So I visit the Abbey and my friend at the same time. Have a wonderful evening. I thank you for looking and for comments which are treasured. Hugs. Diane.

Now this is what I call an ABBEY!! There is still so much of it remaining yet it is what, about 1500 years old (give or take!) - you have captured the grandieur brilliantly and the impressive colours in the surrounding land and the gorgeous blue sky (treasure that blue sky big sis, we don't get many of them!!) An excellent capture my friend. Hugs Chrissy xx

It loks the sort of place where lost thoughts gather, so a great place to collect them. A beauty, sad to see it in this condition though. At least they haven't made it a parking lot or mall yet.
