Description
This is Puente de las Américas (The Bridge of the Americas) at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. I hope I have that right lol, but I’m sure friends on here will tell me if its not! As a Brit I’m ashamed sometimes when I realise how many of us can only speak English (because we expect other people to do the same)
I’m lucky with the diversity of crews and destinations, I at least make an effort to learn a little and I’m constantly amazed at comments on my pictures which are perfectly phrased, and then they aplogise for their lack of the English Language!!!.
Back to the picture…….It was taken onshore, close to a nearby Yacht Club on the Panama Canal, we had taken a few of the “Blue Rinse brigade” ashore for a photo shoot from a cruise ship, “Blue Rinse” explanation on request for those who don’t know, sorry mum!
In a way its much the same as a comment, Carl (Rockstrider)made about shooting into the sun, try it, it works.
I’ve been through the Canal many times but its one place I never ever get tired of.
For those of you interested you can watch live webcams of ships passing through the Canal at http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html
Thanks for stopping by. My connection has been terrible lately but I promise to visit everyone I can. Thanks of course for your more than generous comments, have a good week.

Wow - gorgeous view! That would be a nice spot to sit and just hang out, watching the world go by. Let me know the next time you go through the Canal, and I'll watch you on the webcam. I'll wave, and everything! :) That's a cool website. It's dark there right now, and nothing is happening.

Great effect with the sun of to the left just out of camera, the reflection of it hitting the water. Almost a mono shot with a colour tint(blue rinse) in the sky. Very thought provoking, atmospheric photography. Excellent!!!!!

I suffer from the same fault living in the US. Everyone should be like the European countries which make their people learn multiple languages. Awesome image. Very similar to the bridges over the cape Cod Canal here in Massachusetts.
