Recurring characters from “the Table of Five”, a Dungeons & Dragons campaign set in the Silver Marches of the Forgotten Realms. “They were forced to their knees before the two shadowy figures that lurked at the edge of the gloomy darkness. “What have we here?”, Tahla taunted in an arrogant, yet playful tone. “Heroes of the light… come to put the wicked shades to route?” She stepped further into the light, revealing her slender form with skin an almost drow, deep grey, but her long silken hair and eyes were as black as a moonless night. “We come for what is ours, by blood and birthright. You have no claim here, but that of a thief. So heroes… which of us is more righteous.” “It does not matter,” Taman snapped, as he stepped in front of his sister. “You are now at the mercy of the “Deathbringers” of Shade,” he announced with both cold humor and arrogance, “and we have no mercy!”” Born in the city of Shade during its centuries lost in Plane of Shadow, the twins Tahla and Taman traded a portion of their souls for the stuff of the shadow plane, becoming shades. A sorcerer and shadow adept, Tahla enjoyed a place of prestige, even before becoming a shade, but has none of Taman’s ambition and hunger for power. A spy and killer of the Royal Scouts, Taman has served the Princes of Shade loyal all his life, but knows that he was only awarded shadehood because of Tahla. Determined to prove his worth, he uses his elite squad of urban ranger/assassins, the “Deathbringers”, to silently eliminate anyone any of the Princes command, serving all sides of coming power struggle equally. Tahla truly believes that the Princes of Shade are the rightful heirs to Netheril, including all its relics and knowledge, and serves her beloved home loyally, but she is possessed by an insatiable curiosity for any new form of pleasure.
