Description
This is dedicated to a superb artist and a dear friend Sara ( Saretta ) who always brings a smile to my face with her warm and funny comments. I noticed Sara liked my Float Trip image so much because it was a real story from my past, that is why I did this one for her since it is another such story.
Close The Gate:
One favorite memory for my sister & I both is when we were really young and once more it involves our grandparents farm. My Grandfather had mostly cattle but did have a small pen filled with pigs. When the Mother pig had piglets my sister & I begged our Grandfather to let us have one to play with. He told us no and warned us it was dangerous to try to seperate a Mother pig ( Sow ) from her piglets. Of course the temptation was too great & the piglets too cute so we had to go for one. Carefully slipping in my sister manned the gate as I slipped around and scooped up a baby. All at once all hell broke loose as the baby pig screamed for his Mom & next thing you know here she came after me. What I remember most about this was my sister screaming ( Hurry up the Momma's right behind you ) as I yelled back to my sis ( I know, just close the gate the moment I get through). It did have a happy ending in that I got out in one piece, the only bad news was once again when Grandfather got home and saw us playing with a scared piglet we were in trouble once more. Thanks for listening, hope you got a laugh or a smile that is what matters most to me. Take care,
Dave

Some big fat sow's weigh 200-300 punds.. And will run you over like a freight train :) Great and funny depiction of this wonderful memory.+5

Stupenda immagine , caro Dave ! E interessante storia che mostra la grande capacità dei bimbi di mettersi in continui guai. Io ero uno di questi: una la facevo e una la pensavo . Wonderful image, dear Dave! It is interesting history that shows the great ability of children to get in constant trouble. I was one of these: the one I did, the one I thought.

Just think of it from the piglets point of view. He's lying there, considering getting up and ambling over to Mom to get some grub, and this tall, longleggity creature comes up and snatches him up and runs. Away from Mom, away from grub, and towards another longleggity creature. No wonder he raised cane. They can scream loud. I'm surprised you didn't drop the cutie on first howl. Funny story and image! Wonderful composition, detail, and expressions. Both you and the piglet look terrified. Momma looks a tad cross. Beautiful surroundings and sky. Excellent post!

I love this image Dave and it brings back such great memories for me too as we used to have a few pigs and it was always great to see the babies. Once one of our pigs had her babies on the wrong side of the creek so we had to go and catch all 14 babies and get them over the river. You can imagine the noise and the confusion of all the babies as they can run quite fast and of course the Mother pig was no help. Lol. We got them all in the end.
