Description

"I tried to find Him on the Christian cross, but He was not there; I went to the temple of the Hindus and to the old pagodas, but I could not find a trace of Him anywhere. I searched on the mountains and in the valleys, but neither in the heights nor in the depths was I able to find Him. I went to the Kaaba in Mecca, but He was not there either. I questioned the scholars and philosophers, but He was beyond their understanding. I then looked into my heart, and it was there where He dwelled that I saw Him; He was nowhere else to be found." ~ Jalaluddin Rumi, poet and mystic (1207-1273)

It seems like I am posting a lot of 'Challenge' images here in my gallery lately. Here is another, from the September Forum Challenge: Light and Shadow {---link. I you haven't entered any photos yet, don't delay! Here we see a parhelion (Sundog) peaking of the top of a massive (and I mean massive) thunderhead. I posted a broader view of it in my thumbnail to give you some sense of its size. So here we have the cloud, the sundog, si;houttes of birds in flight and the power lines to tie it all together -- cropped for the composition. Have a great weekend everyone! ------

..... very striking and beautiful image -- less is more -- birds are like notes on a music score.

urm - wow... i am yet to see one of these sundogs for myself, as well as pretty much every other celestial light play (minus a rainbow of course). I cant help thinking this shot might look better without the power lines, but then i couldnt imagine it without, strange, it seems to fit tho a part of me is screaming "unnatural noooo! take it out!" And no, paddington hasnt cropped up yet, i think i have more chance of seeing one of these (real yet very rare) bears that supposedly live around where i am living...

Oh my goodness! This is just breath takingly beautiful. I too at first didn't think the wires belonged .. but then looking at it longer, they DO belong. Then I read your notes, and yes, they belong. I've heard the expression "sun dog", but had no idea what it was. Now I know.

This is exceptional! You've captured this scene so well, and with such grace and peace! Absolutely remarkable sky and clouds, and those two little birds out in the distance give the photo such an awesome mood and atmosphere! There is an almost uncanny sense of something that is only possible to admire, yet impossible to touch........ Beautiful work Kort!

An amazing capture. The colours seem to be accentuated by the cloud and the birds look to be happy to see the colours too, they are dancing. I hope the storm didn't do too much damage.
