Ultrafractal 3.02
I made this guy (I'm guessing maybe y'all "see" a bowed head with a psychedelic visor/helmet and bandana? Humor me - lol) WAY back in '03 when I'd only been doing UF3 for less than a year as a tribute to the 9-11 tragedy but never thought he/it was "good" enough to show to anyone. Well, I reckon he's waited long enough, so I slapped on some texture and I reckon he finally gets his "15 minutes of fame". :-) Actually, the star thing was upped on only my third or fourth day here at Rendo with the title, "Alacrity" - on the first page of my gallery - and the zoomed out shape you see here was saved because it was kinda cool and I wanted to make a fractal "super-hero" and so I came back to it later and made this. The corner at the bottom right was hand painted in PSP because the shape didn't continue the way I wanted it to....sheesh, already the boy was doing "post work". lol
Thought I'd do at least "something" to mark the anniversary of that dark day 6 years ago....still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when it came on TV. (Actually - typical of me - I was running REALLY late for work and was still sitting groggily in bed smoking, drinking my morning java and watching CNN - one of the most surreal days I ever remember having.)
And yeah, as Joie pointed out, the blue on the flag should have been rectangular and not round but hey - it was all I could find and didn't know how to "fix" it.... :-)

Okay, yeah...I see it! That is cool! I remember it too. I was at work already, and I couldn't believe it when someone came around and told us. It seems almost like a dream. A horrible one that came true, however. We can't forget.

What a fantastic fractal! I remember and will never forget! I am grateful my husband was not working close to the Pentagon that day. My heart still goes out to the families and to our country! We need to remember it can still happen! Wonderful work Rick!

Nice dedication image, and I'm glad you finally posted it! I remember where I was that day -- at work already (left you in bed, as usual! hah!!) and got a call from one of our Board members letting us know what was happening (he was in a building nearby). What a scary time that was. And, like newpy said, it could still happen. Anyway, I said that about the flag being round? Really? I don't remember... hmmmm.... could be that age thing again! :^) I like the texture on it. You probably won't like this, but it reminds me of the felt pictures teachers used to tell stories in Sunday School when I was little. Hey! I remembered something! :^)
