Description

This waterfall is in the town of Waterton, inside Waterton Lakes NP. There's a nice plaque at the base of the falls, with the following information: "One of the massive folds in the ancient 600-million-year-old rocks exposed in this park has become visible through the erosional action of this waterfall. The rocks so exposed are of the Watergon Formation and constitute the oldest rocks observable anywhere in this part of the Rocky Mountains." Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

The angle on these rocks is really interesting. If I was a drinker I would be thinking I had one beer too many when I looked at this. This is an awesome shot!

Whoa! If it weren't for the pool, I would think this picture was tilted. The rocks are crooked, obviously, but it's the trees that are really throwing me off. What a fabulous place!

Kinda makes you dizzy to look at this one! It is probably even more interesting during low water, when the small amount of water just follows the twisting, folded rock formations. In high water, it would just plummet over the edge and cover up all the folds. Very cool image, a bit disturbing to the equilibrium :)

For me, this is a thrilling shot! I would love to see this in person. The curve of the rock is magnificent and the waterfall really accents the rock formation.
