Description

Nikon 7900 image. In late April of this year, I managed to get my first pictures of one of these colorful caterpillars. It turned out to be a difficult capture because that one moved fast and never stopped for more than a second or so. I only managed to get one really good shot,lol. Today I came across another one and he was very cooperative. I admit that I moved him from one bit of foliage to another and as a result of that, I manged to get four pretty good shots with different backgrounds out of about 100 pics, lol. For those who may be concerned, once I felt I had imposed on his good will long enough, I returned him to the place where I originally found him. My difficulty now is which one of those 4 to post, lol. I picked this one because I really liked the red leaf and the separation between the subject and background. I suspect that the other 3 will be posted also. I think each of them is a good photograph in their own right and besides, I like them as almost as much as this one, lol. I suggest the zoomed in view for best details and thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Don't you just hate it when your subjects don't cooperate? I know that feeling, but the more cooperative subject offered some really good shots it seems. I love this one, especially the details and the long black hairs contrasting with the tufts of shorter white hairs. Great vivid reds as well and amazing details. Yeah, I happen to love caterpillars, especially the extravagant ones, but this photo stands completely on its own. You have a good eye for composition, form, and color!
