Description

The Potala Palace is giant, many levels and a true labyrinth. But the rooms small, dark, with narrow corridors and pass, staircases stiff and slipping, endless. I see Chinese woman, new rich style, visit with tigh dress and shoes with hight heels! The interior is oppressive, claustrophobic, at least to arrive at the terrace on roof. No air to breath and dozens, maybe hundreds of chantrys which burns vases with yak butter like candles. We finds them everywhere in Tibet. Even the tsampa, the ocal food is made with yak butter. Everywhere float the butter yak smell. Everywhere I remember Tibet, I fell the yak butter smell…

I have heard of the Yak butter on TV travel channel.they seem to live on the stuff.maybe they suffer from high cholesterol . I can imagine the smell that must be very pungent.still beautiful scene and an experience that would not be found elsewhere.thanks for bringing your experiences and travels to my monitor

I think it is smells that evoke memories more then sounds or pictures. A wonderful photograph, this, giving us more to think about, to integrate with our newfound knowledge of Tibet.

I cannot imagine what this would be like but I want to thank you so much for sharing your experience through photos with us. I can almost conjure up a smell in my imagination...probably nothing like it really is.
