Description

From a signpost: The canyon varies from 800 to 1200 feet in depth and from 1500 to 4000 feet in width. Its length is about 24 miles. The upper 2 1/2 miles is the most colorful section Hot spring activity has continued through the ages, altering the lava rock to produce lovely colors which are largely due to varied iron compounds. The clear azur of the water is marvelous and the pov really accents the depth of the canyon. Fantastic shot.

A most amazing view! It's fascinating to see how one side seems much more precipitous than the other. The sparse vegetation is interesting, also... that one lone and different tree at the first bend from the bottom, bent and fragile looking. I love the meandering water bubbling over the rocky bottom. A magnificent image... thanks for sharing :)

Absolutely glorious shot! But is the water really that blue or did you touch it up? It just seems too beautiful to be real.

This is a really beautiful picture of the canyon. There is a lot to look at here, and looks like it would provide one whopping geology lesson.

Wow, the light was just right for this shot -- one side in sunlight and the other in shadow. Bravo!
