Description

My husband and I took a trip down into Detroit where I grew up, and I was shocked at how much of the city was torn down. When I was little, my grandmother's sister, My Great Aunt Carrie, still lived in the family farmhouse on Six Mile and Conant - on a half acre in what was then a built-up, crowded city. I loved to look at pictures from the days when there were still farms there and when the city was far from that house. The house is long gone now, but the dining room looked somewhat like this. Except my Aunt had a picture of poppies in a vase over the buffet. Of course, you must have the lace table cloth or it would not be a dining room! I guess I can't understand why city planners do not try to save historic buildings and instead they like to tear them down. Furniture from Daz. Hair by Aprilish. TY - Rebelmommmy for your beautiful character, available at RDNA! The wonderful dress is dynamic and in freestuff here!

Birth, death, and renewal, are the three constants of this life. Without the one, there could not be the other. Of course, not ALL change is for the better, but some of it is. Racial tensions in some areas may be high, but Lincoln has freed the slaves. Prices on goods may be high, but children can no longer be compelled to work in sweat shops. Just a thought. DPH

Gorgeous nostalgic image! Someone must have spent hours waxing that floor to get it to shine like that! I remember some old houses with floors like that - and a live in staff to help keep the place up. Yes, things change. Tear it down, put up a parking lot, shopping mall, high rise. All in the name of progress. Yet I think we as a people were closer together back then then we are now, even though we have more places to go hang out. Go figure.

This is a great great picture. The character is so pretty in that gorgeous dress. And every thing in the room is so clean and crisp just as I remember things being at my Grandma's home. You've done a wonderful job. It is a beautifiul scene. Going to my favorites. 5+++++

Same here - also the little city where I have lived with my parents and where I had a great time till I got married, has changed so much. Downtown, where we had so many shops and where live has been, is nearly a ghost-town now. Old people and no shops for food anymore. It´s so sad... So it´s a real wonderful made image what you have done here!!

Love the babe portrait and furnishing, I agree, it's a real shame the planners couldn't leave a few Grand old buildings, at least you have some photo's and wonderful memories ! LOL & ~Cheers~ :o)
