Description

This shot of Lower Falls, taken from the other side of the canyon, shows its beauty better, IMHO. At least I like it better. :-) To get to this viewpoint you have to descend "Uncle Tom's Trail." The sign at the top says: "Shortly after 1900, 'Uncle' Tom Richardson took visitors down into the canyon along this trail. Originally with 528 steps and rope ladders; it now descends 328 steps, or about 3/4 of the way down into the canyon for an excellent view of the Lower Falls." "Caution: It is an extremely difficult and steep climb down and back to this point at this altitude, 8000 ft. This trip is definitely not recommended for those suffering from heart or breathing problems. Take your time, enjoy the scenery, and rest often." And of course, of the time when I was sick this was the day that I felt the worst, but I made it down and back, just to bring you guys a good waterfall picture. :-)

Wow - that's amazing! I love the way you've captured the water. And I can see where you were standing for the other shot - nice! Very cool to see it both ways.

I'm impressed with the beauty of the falls, and even more impressed that you could hike this while sick. Thanks for thinking of us and making the trek while ill. You are a real champ (and that is champ, not chimp).

Its hard to grasp the scale of this fall - until you notice the people standing at the top there - WOW! Huge! Nice exposure on this - managed to get that milky water and still managed not to blow any highlights - very nice work:)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I was in Yellowstone a few years back and only saw the falls from the other side. You were very couragous to take on the hike when you were not feeling well, but then again, I would have done the same, since seeing that would outweigh any bad feelings...... even if only for a short while!!!!!

Amazing! Thanks for taking that difficult hike just for us. This is astonishing. It's much bigger than I thought at first glance. I love the subtle coloring in the falls... like it is trying to show rainbows, but not quite there.
