Description
This is just one of the big road trains that carry supplies out west...commonly known on the roads out west as a FGT (F#%&ing Great Truck)....These huge rigs are allowed to be no more than 53 metres long for road safety reasons and the Department of Transport constantly measure their size and weight and check log record books when they are on the roads....Zoom in on this guy and you will see he is a 62 wheeler...Damn I would hate to have to change a flat tyre on him....the roads are littered with rubber, so it seems some poor truckies have to at times! This one was travelling at about 100 kilometres an hour on the Range while we were stopped....
I must apologise for my lack of commenting on everyones galleries but my darling children have sucked up all our broadband, so we are cruising here on 64 speed..with 3 computers networked and running at the same time it is a struggle to open the pages.....

How interesting to see this! I've heard of these road trains, of course, but it's hard to get my brain around it. The limit in Washington State is two trailers behind the rig, 48,000 pounds of freight max net weight. They're called 18-wheelers in general, but that varies with the type of trailer. The rubber you see by the side of the road is probably blown out "retreads." It's cheaper than replacing the tire, but doesn't last forever - they blow apart and rubber goes flying! That is one monster rig. Wow. Very cool shot! Thanks!

WOW!!! Now that's what I call a truck. How good are they at corners? :)

in California and Nevada/Utah the 3 trailer rigs are allowed, but in Texas only 2 trailers are permitted.I thought it was pretty much open roads In OZ out in the outback, but obviously the laws are enforced.where is Mel Gibson when he is needed??excellent fast action capture

Very cool shot!

This would never be allowed here. The biggest that can travel here now is a piggy-back (cab+two trailers). There is too much traffic and high speeds. We had too many accidents that involved longer trucks. Amazing shot. Good pov.
