Description
On an exceptionally hot day, several young Monks took refuge in this bus. They are shy about having their picture taken...but finally agreed.
I walked around the bus afterwards and was ready to take a shot of a small street store...one of the Monks jumped out of the bus and pulled on my arm...shaking his head "NO". My interpreter told me that it was against the law for me to take that particular shot as the store sold gasoline...and there were several guards in the area. They would not only confiscate my camera...but it would be impossible for me to get back to Thailand.
An hour or so later, I managed to sneak a photo of a street store/gasoline stand, that I will share with you tomorrow.

Wonderful shot! Only in Burma we find this kind of " vehicule", most autobus are of the II War! I never had problem to take photos of monks, anywhere, but in Burma, the situation change, maybe there are a tense polical moment... Maybe depends also the region we cross and the particulary mood there... I wait more photos!

It truly is a great shot Joelle. I had no idea of how brave you were being on that visit. What is happening today raises the awaremess of so many. I chant each day that the wareness is raised in more than enough and finally there will be a stop to the madness. Your picture and more than that, your story is worth a thousand words. Thank you for your awareness and feeling for my Buddhist Brothers!

outstanding capture and the bus reminds me of some of the contraptions in the Philippines

An absolutely fantastic shot! And the timing is good with the strife being played out there now with the monks... Good pov. I am so glad you were not seen taking that photo. Its a sad place where the government forbids a person to take a photo of a gas station!

Thanks for sharing. What a scary government. Chances are they didn't want ANYONE talking about the price of their gasoline...or why it's so expensive. So much for when crime syndicate gets a hold of power.
