Description

The purpose of my client, Phox, was to demonstrate how the Progressive Scan device works to give a realistic blur in a movie sequence. This is what suggests the group of four drawings in the center. The left image was one of my first with Adobe Illustrator 8, a version which is still my preferred one in spite of the fact that I am teaching the latest makes, AiCS2 and CS3. It was directly drawn on a very old Wacom tablette, a SD model built in 1988, but the drawing was done 9 years after. Its original color, that you see in the LCD screen of the camcorder, was changed for a blue afterwards. Please note that in the current version Adobe Illustrator CS3, the color palette of a vector illustration can be changed very easily, what I shall show you in a later post. The JVC camcorder was entirely drawn in Illustrator too (it is not a photo nor a 3D drawing). If you use the pop-up function, you see the composition with much more accuracy, but its size is somewhat big for a monitor, with 1600 pixel width.

Damn that's an old Wacom! I remember seeing those being used at Rocketdyne, years ago. CAD/CAM blueprints on Vax 11/780s. (My old specialty). Good art ages like good wine and your students are fortunate indeed.
