A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

Beautiful crisp close-up. Awesome colors. You need to have someone taking pictures of you while you are doing this. I'd like to see how high you jump and your expression when they jump out at you, lol. Rule of thumb: if an insect is more than 6 inches above the ground there is a good chance that it can either jump or fly. Beautiful work.

Bugs and mostly spiders creep me out. People tell me they cannot hurt me, that maybe true, but they have a way of making me hurt myself. Apparently those people have not watched the discovery channel; there are spiders that can hurt you. If I see a spider anywhere on me I freak until It's off, most of the time hurting myself in the process. ...lol... Todd

it is a type of assassin bug and they are harmless to humans.they are very beneficial getting rid of small insects.I have 1 or 2 in my gallery.excellent macro

Although I always try to get bug macros when possible, I have quit going out to look for them, pretty much for this reason. You never quite know what you will come across. Nice shot.

Flying bugs used to scare me more but I seem to be less frightened of them now - too busy chasing them with my camera to be concerned. Still would jump if one flew unexpectedly - eeeeek! Love the green leaves and how he is in full sunlight. Keep bug hunting!

This very little insect feels quite unobserved in the beautiful midrib chalice stem-and-leaf plot sanctuary, it is an extrem deeply serrated picture.
