Description

Chapter two; Between home and work are 50 odd kilometres of gorgeous and right in the middle is the Malahat mountain, (not a good place to lose your clutch, which happened to me 2 wks ago!). Just below the summit is a beautiful lookout spot. From here, I am looking south-east, across the edge of Vancouver Island, Saltspring Island (which apparently grows some fascinating stuff, as do all the other Gulf Islands), then Galliano Island, all in the Strait of Georgia and then you see the mainland in the distance. If you really blow this photo up, there's a white bit, almost dead centre, which is Mount Baker, in Washington State. "Hello Neighbours"! I have a hunch that my landscape photography skills need tons of work, so your visit and kind advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

A terrific capture, indeed, of your lovely environment. Nice colors and POV. I have no advice at this time for your landscaping skills. Maybe later.

Beautiful! I see Mt. Baker from the another angle. Howdy, Neighbor! :) (ps. Have stolen image, will send tips soon.)

You're absolutely right, this is georgeous! The POV is perfct. Some would argue against the foreground treetops. IMHO they give a perspective, but that's a matter of personal preference, I guess. Want to see even more of it? Try setting a -EV of 0.75 to darken highlights. Mt. Baker will pop right out of the background, as well as the water behind the island! I tried post processing this just to see and it worked on your present photo.

To Windworker, thank you so much! I have a great deal to learn, but between yourself and auntietk, I'm sure you'll get me to shape up! IMHO? EV? I'd love to see what you did....shall we start another gallery called 'Fixing Chris's screw-ups'?
