Description

This was part of my last online Vue lesson at LVS. We were learning to paint with ecosystems and when I got done with the trees I just kind of quit the image. I liked the simplicity of it. I'm having a big problem with my computer at the moment. I was playing with Shadownet's awesome Bullking last night when my programs kept locking up. I shut the computer down twice by turning it off at the surge protector. I think I have a problem with memory. My PSPXI won't open at all but PSP7 will. I have black squares dragging around my cursor and small icons on my desktop and IE taskbar. I installed new drivers for my monitor and ATI Radeon 9800 Pro vid card. Now the desktop and IE taskbar look ok but the cursor is still bad and when I scroll the screen flickers instead of a smooth scrolling. I'm suppose to have 1Gig of RAM and 128MB on the vid card. Anyone have suggestions?

Awesome looking image. It does sound like some kind of memory problem. I have you tried reseating the video card? Pull it out and put it back in. Sometimes that works.

Nice job on the render. As for your computer woes, I would do an online virus scan. I would also check your video card settings. It sounds like a VGA driver issue to me. right click anywhere on your desktop. when the applet comes up, click properties, then settings. Make sure your color quality is 32 bit. I would also uninstall your old drivers and put in the latest. MAKE SURE YOU UNINSTALL THE OLD DRIVERS FIRST. If you have newer ATI drivers installed, go to your control panel, and open ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS. Uninstall EVERYTHING ATI ( Usually if you click on the display drivers, windows will tell you you are removing all ATI related hardware. It will ask you if you want to proceed. Click YES. then reinstall new drivers. If it doesn't ask you that, you can open windows through explorer and go to ATI/ SUPPORT. somehwere in there you will find an executable file called CMDUNISTALL, or something like that ( I don't remember the exact name and I'm at work right now working with a computer with crappy onbaord graphics) If you want to know the exact name or have other questions, feel free to email me. Good luck.

Reminiscent of some other image that I saw recently, but very interesting. That certainly is a beautiful book cover. Since PSP7 works, which is a few iterations older than PSPXI, it might be time to make sure that your OS is fully upgraded with the latest service packs. Also, make sure that your graphics card ATI(AMD) or Nvidia driver is fully up to date. New graphics intensive programs are often written with those requiremends in mind, to take full advantage of the latest graphics technology.

well cross-post me all to @#$%...;) I've never seen 4 pages of comments before...missed a few..;) ounds like a problem, maybe software. Depends on the Operating System. If it's Windows-based, you might check your Virtual Memory settings, video settings (try rolling back the resolution, see if anything changes). Speaking of rolling back, if you have XP or Vista, you might be able to revert to an earlier restore point, and see if anything gets better. Also, you can check control panel,System, Device manager, and see if you get any warning signs (yellow triangles with !, or red circles with X, etc). Could point out a hardware conflict. IF any of the above terms are a problem, go ahead and google them. There's also several sites (newsgroups) out there for any problem you'd care to mention, based on hardware, software, and art packages. Those are other good sources... for flickers, check the properties (Right Click on an empty part of the screen, then properties) and check your refresh rate as well. It's only one of several suggestions, but it can't hurt. Alternatively, you could reinstall PSPXI (whatever that is...;) and see if the problem clears up. oh...sorry, but the picture reminds me of 'Hitchhiker's Guide' ...."round, round, GROUND! I wonder if it will be friends with me"...;) great artwork nonetheless...sorry about the long post...;)

Utterly delightful and very whimsical! I added more memory (ram) and that seemed to help the draggyness. Also off loaded a boatload of photos and three truck loads of flames and WIP files to an external hard drive. Ditched some programs I don't know why kept. That helped a ton. I haven't had anything like you're describing, but I'd suspect the video card as well. Not having too much eperience with it, I'd check all the connections first, then run for my nearest techie! But someone here should be able to help you, Cyberknight, Richardphotos, and Pixeltek seem pretty knowlegable about computers. Good luck!

Aplausos (5) Hello my friend, I had an I DETAINED 9600 128 and it began something to happen similar, 128 are little and they generate wear and tear in the plate of the video plate, Vue demands a lot and Poser 7 also I wanted a 9800 256 or 512 that it is one of the best of the I DETAINED for graphs, but here in Brazil I didn't find, the more fellow creature is X1650 but I only got to 256, because most is for games and not for graphic art. Wonderful work, I hope everything is solved. Applauses (5)

Thats a very cool image - a very creative concept!! Works really well as a book cover too - i like it a lot! Still having problems with your computer? My suspicion falls on your videocard as the symptoms are indicative of this - are you able to swap your card with one (ideally another ATI card) from another computer? This should clearly show whether its the card or not. Hope you get it fixed so we can keep seeing your wonderful artworks!

Very cool image, I like the simple surreal nature. (kind of reminds me of Magrite's paintings). As for the computer, my first thought (you've probably got it fixed by now, though) was "too many programs running?" which caused me to wonder about potential viruses/trojans. I imagine you have anti-virus, but sometimes trojans can bypass and then disable anti-virus stystems, so it might be worth checking out. The other possibility is one of your memory chips may have come loose (that happened to me a couple of years ago) so be sure to double-check your control panels/system and see what it says about memory and such. Hope that helps!
