Description
It is a rare scene. It's difficult to see Buddhist nuns in the street, especially to the ritual of the quest for food in the morning. In other countries of the Theravada Buddhist tradition, the oldest (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka), women, even when they live in a monastery did not religious status, as Burma. They are "Thendara" that move through the path of Dharma.
In Burma they are religious and have their monasteries.
The people wait at sunrise, with the food.

I count about twenty of them queueing and they have much bigger pots than the person dishing out. I have seen this custom before but what happens when the white pot gets empty? do they move on to the next house? As always Mousson a beautiful bit of journalistic photography and your narrative is wonderful. Thanks for sharing your journey. Bravo!!!!!

I have seen something like this on TV, but not of nuns, only monks. I didn't know that only in Burma do nuns have monastaries and are considered religious. Not only do you give us a wonderful look at a country that is rarely seen by the public, but you teach us, as well.
