Description

Once upon a time ... there was a king, the king Bodawpaya ( Ok, these Burmese kings have impossible manes, but it's not my fault ...) who lived in the early 19 th century. He decided to build the largest building in the world. The Kings did not have much to do, and spent their time inventing this kind of thing. Mostly because is the others who worked, , they only drew up the plans. The gigantic edifice rising, rising ... Until that the king die in 1819, and a terrible earthquake compromise the structure of building in 1838. It led to a slot which condemned the building forever. The people say that the king has been condemned by his lack of modesty. I am not responsible for the veracity of Burmese legends. First they are terribly complicated and anyway I can not verify. You believe it or not, but the building is there, in Mingun. The slot also. And they are enormous, both.

I can imagine the roof falling on you with an earthquake of this magnitude and size. The crack is huge to this wonderful building. Thanks for the Once Upon a Time and capture. I really enjoy. Aloha

this building entrance I've seen before... I'm guessing in your gallery. was the building carved out of a mountain side or built? Does it have a roof? and does it have electricity now? I think I see a light in the doorway.

WOW. This is an utterly fascinating image. I've always loved such architecture! There is a lot of it in Burma, and I'd also love to see Petra in Jordan, which is similar in some small ways. Your capture here is well done, and you've captured the colors of the environment beautifully! I can tell you enjoyed your journey to this place because you captured it with such grace! Fantastic work! I love it!

That sure is a serious earthquake crack, those people in the entrance are either very brave or very dumb ! I like the contrasting interior white to the dusky outer, very kool and grand building capture ! LOL & ~Cheers~ :o)
