Description

The journey was long and tiring, but considering the condition of cars and roads in Burma, it is well past. The hardest was the climb in colectif truck, impossible to count how many people. In the top, The Rock. But there are also thousands of pilgrims more of the region, dormitories for pilgrims, temples everywhere. But above all a joy and an incredible mood of faith. The few tourists come, stay an hour and leave. They view, "The Roc » Normally, is enough. I stayed three days. All Deep Burma was there, the people more friendly I never met. Nobody speak a word in a foreign language. But they came to me to talk, give me candies, fruits, propose share their food. No problem to understandig. I am very fluent in the only universal language "The Marcel Marceau". Earlier in the night there was an incredible ceremony. They placed hundreds of candles on the floor, in a certain order, they explained me it was the words of the Dharma. The people give me candles and showed how the switch. All the people attending the ceremony, very moving. Many stayed until late at night. It is always something going on, nothing scenography, but the mood of the place was incredible and full of peace. People do not intimidated by the fact that I was the only foreign there with them. On the contrary, they were curious and came to me to talk, especially women. I took hundreds of photos, the Golden Rock on all angles and lighting, but also the people. On the last day I decided that I needed a photo of the Golden Rock with monks around, with their beautiful red dress. There are one or another, but hidden by others. I wait more of three hours, in the right place, with all our equipment ready. Nothing. I began to be really tired.

So, I had one of those insights that happen from time to time. I dont go wait for monks, I can send my "Personal Monk »! Women cant enter in the small platform around the Rock. I have passed the age to discute this kind of things. I looked around me and "chosen my monk." He was young, tall, nice, was accompanied by his sisters. I explained in my purest Marcel Marceau that I wanted to make an offering of golden leaves directly to the Golden Rock (which was not false). But, as I am a woman, I cant go. So, I asked him, a holy man, to do so at my place, it would have more value. No problem to understand this complicated story because it made sense and I followed all the polish burmese ways and forms. I prepared the material. The monk go and played his role perfectly. He even turned to me and while sticking my offerings. Genial! I was hilarious in my smart and euphoric. It was then that I do not believe my eyes. At the exact moment that « my monk" put the gold sheets because I had waited hours for monks on plataphorme, they began to arrive, One, two, three, six, I do not know how Buddhist monks, all around the stone. Exactly the picture that I had dreamed! I stayed without talk, breathless, but I can take pictures even in catatonic state. It was too much! Astouning! I deeply respect the beliefs of others, but I am a person of little faith. But here, I was puzzled, I did not know what to think! Obviously, all the people who I told my story believed in a miracle and respect towards me has climbed to somments. I was blessed and I had a great karma! I have the whole sequence of pictures to prove it. Until today I dont know what to think. I keep it as an absolutely magical moment in my life. Not speak about "coincidences" in Asia. That does not exist. I have MY picture, which I will show you. But MY photo has become the monk stick golden leaves for me, not the other, which I was dreaming and I had finally. If Buddha has something to do with it, it has a lot of humor, is a big prankster (Playfulness ?) and protects photographers. Those that have a good karma, of course ...

Amazing story...I agree with one of the other commenters (in a previous phtoto)...you should write a photo journal book of your trips to Burma...with your natural gift for story telling in both words and photos I'm sure it would be popular :D

It makes one believe in a religion that is wild. How else could people interweave against the very discipline they practiced so carefully?
