A great picture and interesting documentation. Its hard to believe that this is happening in the center of Mandalay rather than covertly in a remote corner of the country. When I was in Northern Thailand in 1966-67, there was constant truck traffic through Udon Thani to points south. These trucks carried teak cut down around Chang Mai, in the area of the Golden Triangle. I know valuable woods like these teak generate much needed currency, but it also destroys hapitat for rare species.
