Description

HELLO ALL! OK i definately don't think of any of these as gallery worthy and not crazy about this quick collage BUT SO many of you have written and sent warm thoughts and well wishes I wanted to give you an update here . SO putting this little collage of shots up to let you know we are safe and our home is not burned . Luckily we are in an area that didn't get hit . But up on the hill many have lost their homes . This one family just finished remodeling last week and their home is a complete loss.. The huge hurricane type winds have finally died down ( about 13 mph rather then 70- 90 ) and they are getting it more under control here... but fires are still raging all over the state and President Bush is coming here tommorrow. California has right now the largest evacuation ever and around 1000's have lost homes. I think of all the animals and people homeless now and my heart and prayers go out to them today . Kids are finally back in school but not allowed to play outside as there is still a red flag alert due to smoke conditions that can effect health. Still looks like a hurricane hit the yard is a complete mess from the winds !!! These pics were taken from my pocket cam on Sunday night on my way to go pic up dinner from inside the car . ( taken in Canyon Country Cal - our fire was the fastest spread they said and one person died) They are not the best quality so I had to soften up the grain a little on them . IT was too crazy to think about getting out the tripod and gear and I knew the kids were worried about me being out . but putting them up cause so many of you wrote and reached out and I am blessed by your love and support so thought I would share this today and leave room for comments ... Love to you all!! ((( BIG hugs ))) ~ Kimmers ! :O) ~ ♥

I am like Tara, I do not watch the news, so glad to know that you and your family are safe though. I feel for those that have lost everything but material things can be replaced, I just pray that no more people loose their life with this terrible fire. My prayers are with you and all the people of California, I don't often pray for rain Kim but I hope it pours down for you, until the fires stop. Courage and strength for you Kim. Be brave.

Excellent collage. Hope all is well with you. The Majeska Canyon fire is the closest to me. We went to school all week and they finaly canceled it today and tomorrow. I don't want to sound like a weird kid, but I'm sort of sad that school has been canceled, though. Love Jessica

So sorry to read about the fires in your neighborhood Kimmers. Stay safe and fire-free. Well done even if you only used a pocket cam. I think that this collection proves that it's the skill of the carpenter and not his/hers tools that matter. Take care Kimmers. Good work!

WOW! VERY compelling images, and a testament to something both terrifying and life changing. In a sense, the images here (and in your last post) do exactly the things that art is supposed to do, which is to record things and provide a context in which those things can be dealt with in some way! Thank you for showing these images and actually allowing quite a few people not in that situation to be able to put human names and faces to something that shouldn't be anonymous! VERY moving work!

Thank you for the photos, it's so tragic and at the same time your photos are excellent, fascinating and moving. RubyT brought tears to my eyes yesterday, telling us how it was. Glad you're safe. All my thoughts for you and your family and all those surrounding you... such destruction...

This is terrible. Fortunately you and your kids are safe. I've been listening to the BBC and hearing stories. One woman who fled later heard her house was OK but her neighbor's property half a mile away had burned down. Someday we will be able to stand up against the forces of nature.

it is a terrible but common threat to forested areas in a major drought. I experienced the smoke from CA in Nevada Friday and Saturday.almost the whole trip home the smoke was visible from the jet.I am glad that your home has been spared

This looks so familiar, the fire seems to make its own wind and then go in a vicious circle, the harder the wind the bigger the fire, one time the fire here was dropping ash in New Zealand over a 1000 miles away. We live in the bush too it's beautiful until you get this then it's bloody scary. But there is still something beautiful as well.
