Description

A favorite of mine, located at Dashur. This one is Pharaoh Sneferu's work, and is unique among all of Egypt's pyramids. At the lower right corner you can just make out the edge of a smaller pyramid (not 'bent'), which has an as yet unknown purpose. Maybe it was a model for the large one, just a guess of mine, but with different amounts of materials used, the larger one might have become unstable, and was finished at a shallower angle. Aside from its unusual shape, I like it because it really gives the viewer an idea of the once smooth surfaces of all pyramids.
