Description

Port Isaac, was a busy coastal port from the Middle Ages to the mid 19th. century when it was an active harbour where cargoes like stone, coal, timber and pottery were loaded and unloaded. Though the name Isaac may be from a Cornish word for Corn.. Fishing and fish-processing were also important and today there are still fishermen working from here although tourism plays an increasingly important role. And has been the scene for many TV productions and films.. Recently as fictional Port Wenn in the series Doc Martin Most of the old centre of the village consists of 18th. and 19th. century cottages, many officially listed as of architectural or historic importance, along narrow alleys and 'opes' winding down steep hillsides. Great shot but just one small point, I reckon it could do with a splash of bright colour just to lift this great shot a little more. A bright red doorway would have looked fantastic!

I think it is a fantastic architectural shot of excellent clarity. I love the deep blue sky and the lone seagul looking down onto the cottage. Bravo!!

I remember you telling me about this one. Polarisers are very useful it seems :) I love that shadow on the wall, waiting paid off it seems... one thing tho - even tho the perspective warrants a bit of tilt i do think it needs a bit of clockwise rotation.

I love the POV you have used here. It shows us so many textures and I just love the lone seagull and its shadow on the wall of the cottage. As you may have guessed, I think this is a cracking shot! Bravo, Danny!

I was initially drawn in by the texture of the building but the birds and that great bird shadow just really make this outstanding. Great capture!

Very nice low-angle shot and capture .The shadow of the seagull projected on the wall is just amazing. Excellent work, altogether! ( as for the name Issac, 'Porthusek' in the Cornish version, it seems to me that the Celtic us-, as in Breton 'a-us' meaning 'high, overlooking, superior or at the top', could be more likely to explain this Cornish place-name, which could therefore mean 'the harbour located on the top...of a cliff or above the sea shore...)

A great shot Danny, I am looking at the building and the way it was constructed, either slate or flint, I like the lock on the door, the old crab/lobster pot lying there. It looks as though it has been restored, the red brick chimney, the slates over the brickwork of the two upper floors, I think they have used reclaimed materials to retain some of the character, it does look good. I would love to explore this. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

Thanx for the history Dan. I think this shot is really great. Your compo is great and I think the white against the sky is stunning and really contrasty. The bird's shadow really makes it for me.

What incredible, what exciting, what fabulous construction! The detail is wonderful but the different types of construction incorporated into the one building is a stunner!
