Description

I was downtown Dallas the other day taking pictures around the American Airlines sports arena and a new hotel across the street.mind you I was on a public sidewalk.some huge gorilla in a suit and walky talky comes out and asks if I have credentials for photography.I asked why, I am on a public sidewalk.he tried to tell me I could not take pictures of the hotel..I told him as long as I am on a public sidewalk, I will take pictures of anything I want.it is right in a huge tourist attraction and they are crazy for trying to enforce such a rule.I was polite but I wanted to tell him to go to hell, but he was about 6-4and 300# so I did not-haha thanks for viewing and any comments when viewing this picture I get the sensation of falling backwards.be forewarned!!!

The pic is amazing, but why on earth does it matter if you take a pic of it to those jerks ? It really burns me up as more and more the gov. and big business both try to come on private property to tell us what we can and can't do.

I love that you used the lens to give the building wings! It's seems so appropriate--it looks ready to take off. And taking photos is hard now--there are a lot of beautiful surfaces at a local refinery that I would love to photograph for textures, but it's not worth the hassle to take a camera there and explain what I am doing. We have turned into a nation both timid and bullying, when we used to have the optimistic, upward looking vision that inspired the world.

Blame "Home Land Security" and that guard who does not know what he is doing. This 911 has changed everything. Great shot though !!!!

there seems to be a lot of this happening these days in just about every country .a friend of mine was out doing a night shoot last week with about 10 others in a group .they were on whats known as the transporter bridge in middlesborough taking shots of the river .the police turned up and they were told they couldnt take pics because they could of been terrorists !!!!!they were all asked to show id and so forth .maybe they thought they were going to do a world war 2 job on the bridge at a later date :o)..needless to say he wasnt happy and the next day complained to all the authorities for an explanation .excellent capture richard mick

Excellent photo with highly unusual perspective! As for the "gorilla", well, it just makes me wonder what is really going on in the hotel. Another conspiracy theory to add to the ever growing list. Nice work, Richard, well worth the confrontation!!!

Great pov, makes the buildings enormously tall. Only yesterday, where I live they are building a new sports complex, I've lived here all my life and just for my own record I wanted to take a few shots(from the roadside) as it is going up, I took a few, and this guy waves his hands about yelling no photos, whats it for?, are you a newspaper?. I told him just my own pics. he said one of the big machines had his name on it so don't take any pics. I couldn't work out what his problem was!!!!!! got enough pics tho, lol.

How bizarre! (Your experience, not the photo - the photo is great!) :) I would have been tempted to stand at attention and sing "This Is My Country" as loud as I could. Yikes!
