Description

A photo of part of a fence around a grave. This fence is 121 years olds! Brookwood Cemetery was consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester on 7 November 1854 and opened to the public on 13 November 1854. At that time Brookwood Cemetery was the largest burial ground in the world. Today this is no longer true, but it remains the largest Cemetery in the UK, and is probably the biggest in Western Europe. Since 1854, over 235,000 people have been buried here. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) **Best Viewed Full Size**

I wonder how this missed the war effort, when they were collecting all the iron and steel they could lay their hands on? I know one of our local churches lost all their railings, they were just cut off level with the wall. Great shot David, a facinating subject, wonderful texture, especially on the center piece. CC, I would have just stepped back half a pace to get the top of the spike in and the corner of the angle, or done away with the hazy frame. Excellent capture, coposition 4.5 but I will round it up. Bravo!!!!!
