Description
This is an image captured from the same island that provided the moody, haze-obscured view of the Prague Castle. This was taken a bit later, when I'd returned to the island to clear my head. Prague can be an overwhelming place, most times, and there are times when you just need to go somewhere ALONE and not be around other people.
Though it's full on winter here, at least for the past couple of days, there are still leaves on many of the trees and some of them are almost desperately colorful, as if in competition with the perpetual and depressing grayness of the clouds.
I tried to capture as much of that contrast on the island as I could and got most of it. The image here is mostly as the island appeared, though the darker shadows were touched just a hint in photoshop to bring out some of the subtle qualities that got a bit lost. Hopefully you like this image, and can feel something of the mood of the island, and as always, thank you for viewing. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on galleries soon, but as of now, I'm dealing with some unexpected contingencies and so I will be even more irregularly on-line...but to everyone, thank you for viewing and I hope to be back on my own schedule soon!

Wonderful colors and detail, but I am not sure about the branch reaching through the image and what it does to the composition. The way it links the trees on the left and right (and thereby the background and foreground) is interesting, but, for me at least, it creates almost too strong a contrast in the center of the image. There's a clear "cut" between the upper half and the lower half of the image, but both parts don't come quite together. Come to think of it that's quite an interesting effect, but I wonder if it was intentional?

Really wonderful capture, Chip! I love the very wintry feel with the contrast of all the green. Looks awfully dang cold, though!! Hope you can get things sorted out and settled quickly!!

I am amazed at the branch that seems to reach across to the other tree...as if to say, "Hello there my brother...maybe if we hold on tight Mr. Winter won't be so harsh and strip us of our coverings..." A beautiful capture Chip, with great mood and atmosphere!
