Description

Here is a photo I shot a while back while visiting Cumberland Island. I was able to snap off a shot of a mother turkey and her young as they made a dash for the undergrowth. Not a stellar capture by any means, but I figured I'd post it in honor or the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Since Cumberland Island is protected state land and a nature preserve, at least these turkey's won't find themselves as the main course for a holiday meal. :') Thanks for stopping by!

I've never seen a turkey that looks like that! My neighbour used to keep white ones that came racing around corners in a group and scared tourists. Lovely photo.

Awww how cute! We have bagoodles of wild turkeys here, I even saw a flock of about 12 grazing in a grassy yard of an in-town house. One morning I opened the front door and was surprised to see a lone gobbler about 30ft away. Once one suddenly flew across the road I was driving on only to turn when he encountered my car... no lie, he ended up matching my speed and direction right outside my window (I could have reached out and touched him), we were both a bit disturbed when we turned our heads to look at one another! lol But...have never seen a hen with babies. Thanks for sharing a precious view~

A very tastefull capture, oversea we have to wait until X-max for the traditional Turkey. But wild Turkeys, I don't think you can find them in western Europe anymore!! BTW, I like this very nice capture, thanks for sharing. Have a nice evening Henk

I think an image of a "family" is always stellar, regardless. The mama Turkey and her "turkey'ettes" are a fascinating site. Nature never seizes to amaze. Love the greenery and natural beauty of their environment. Sometimes I wish I was a Vegetarian :)

In OZ we have some wild Turkeys, but ours have a red crop and a bright yellow beak and can be seen occasionally tearing across the back roads ducking for some cover in the bush and we don't have Thanks-giving, so their safe and breeding like...erm, Turkeys ! Lucky capture getting this Mum and her 6 chicky babes ! ~Cheers~ :o)

She looks to have quite a brood and she will be pleased that she isn't going to be a main course. Lovely to have captured them all as they move pretty fast.
