Description

Here is what our hike might have look liked A few million years ago. I emailed the picture to MagikUnicorn, who added the the ocean and clouds and framework. This is our US and Canadian collaboration. I just took the picture, the Unicorn did all the Magik! http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?Who=MagikUnicorn Go to this site to read about the Peak. http://www.nps.gov/gumo/index.htm Today's arid landscape is a dramatic reversal of a prehistoric marine environment. In Permian times, the entire area was underwater. Fossils in the Guadalupe Mountains' sun-drenched rock indicate that a reef formed by sponges, algae, and the skeletal material of numerous organisms, thrived here for approximately five million years. See Y'all, a few million years from now! Todd

Yup, nice effect. I'd change the frame color, though, as it distracts me from the image. Perhaps something bluish or at least some desaturation? Might be a matter of personal preference, though. The overall impression is still good. :-)

Ya know, I hear all this stuff but I still can't get it in my head when I'm standing in the Sonoran Desert that at one time that was a giant lake... it just doesn't seem to make any difference on the amount of sweat I'm drenched in or the discomfort of the hellish heat... :-) Cool shot and good words to reflect on...

Yes, and that representation is what gives Texas the wonderful fossils that can be found, now that the lake has drained. :)

I keep saying I need a time machine. :o) This is excellent work, and very imaginative. Finding clues of places where water once existed in a desert is pretty awesome.
