Description

Here is looking inside the cone of "Kilauea Iki" . Portions of the cone had collapsed since its 1959 eruption. The top of the cone has large cracks with Hazardous area signs to keep out. Yes, Lady Carrie and I had gone beyond those signs. The pit was filled with landslide rocks covering up any view of the hole. Will show a close up of the pit on my next post. Aloha and thank you for viewing

What some people will do for those perfect fotos!!! I think going further near a volcano is more dangerous than leaning out over the rail of a pier!! But it's a great shot, hard to believe it was so violent not so long ago.

Greetings, There is something interesting about volcanos as they are so very foreign to everything else in our landscape. Thank you for sharing. egmont

I like the way you have framed your shot, Errol. It really has the look of a moonscape. Unearthly landscape, fabulous capture. Aloha. Diane.

Why don't you write an article for a magazine with these amazing photos?

Yesterday I was wondering when you would be back with more of these marvelous shots. This is so amazing and I'd love to know more about what this means in terms of eruptions and such. Wonderful shot.

Quite a view and glad you stayed safe. I know that the perspective can be misleading and that is really much larger than it would appear at first glance.

Wow, what an awesome, amazing, caldera! Superb POV, clarity and textures displayed in this shot, Shark! And the surface looks like tar or pitch.
