I went back to this angel image.
The first one I liked, from a very....for lack of a better term....esoteric point-of-view. I thought there was something haunting, and otherworldy about the way she looked...something transcendent and classical. At the same time, I had people at my shows who used the words, "spooky", "freaky" and "trippy" (to quote a few).
I understand where they're coming from. I think that some of them were commenting as such for the same reasons people find Meg Foster to be "freaky" when they look at her. Eyes that blue are so rare as to cause a little dismay.
Perhaps Meg's eyes were the result of some angelic artist's brush.
So, I went back to the proverbial drawing board, and re-rendered my angel, and gave her a different face, one that reminds me a little more of the "Girl Next Door" from American Mythology, and gave her eyes that were pretty, but a little more mundane.
In any case, the resulting picture, the one which you are seeing above, has already been met with a different kind of reaction than my previous render....and I sold a large print of her this past weekend.

She is truely beautiful! And I think you are right, very light eyes tend to seem "strange", probably because we rarely see it. Otherwise there is no good reason, it's just a colour.. oh well...
