Description
So for those of you who wonder what the 'Mind The Gap' voice is all about and why they say it, because there is hardly ever a gap. This is a gap people!!!
The gaps are worse on the Eastern parts of the lines and the worst I've seen is at Elephant and Castle where, if you're at the back of the train, the gap is about a foot wide.
Picture number 2 in my 'Tube' Project.
I added the photocopy effect to darken and danken the scene. It was too bright for what I wanted to display, making it look too cheery and not serious enough.
I'd like feed back in terms of what connection you get from the shots in this series. I'm not really interested it who thinks I should've focused on where and what angle I should've shot from. I want to know how the picture is viewed in your eyes, what does it make you feel?
If you're going to vote, please vote honestly not just this 5 5 5 stuff, pretty please.
Thanx and happy viewing

P.S. Shot was hand held.

Great sense of speed. Great urban photo.

Just some words to express how this image makes me feel: anguish, tunnel vision, narrow, alone, lost, phobia, no grip, never relax, Koyaanisqatsi (remember the movie?)... your tight and adequate composition suggests and accentuates all that and more.

My first effect: The warning on the edge of the platform conbined together with a rush of the train lead my eyes into the tunnel. My secound effect: I find opposite between a fast passing train and a passive warning on the ground. This sign realy applies when a train in stationary not when it is in move. But a first effect more grabs me. My honest vote is 4.

Babs I did do a 'still' shot and to be honest it felt like a documentary shot and I didn't like it I'm afraid :( What I like about the train moving is the feeling of rush rush rush and when you're in a rush the gap is most lightly to be 'forgotten' and will get you into trouble. Thank you for you're honesty. Girs I love that you picked the word 'Anguish' brilliant feeling. I love that it goes well with the dark shadows. Thanx for the comment.

This shot makes me feel very small and insignificant and that I think is from the POV you've captured this shot at. I love the sense of motion with this one V - a brilliant capture. Excellent. xx

Very good work indeed, excellent composition.

love the movement of the train. help you know to keep away. I hear bad stories of people falling down in the gap and the train comes or moves. You did a very good job on the darken of what you did in post work.

this shot with this pov and the blur of movement really sweeps you along with the view. Great composition and plan for movement carried out well.

Lucky are the few who transcend the caution, knowing intrinsically when to disregard the superfluous warning and when one must consciously pass over the gaps in life. The rush of the train passing, the hurried pace of life most lead, the chaotic lack of attention to what matters... And than it is there, in bold lettering ‘mind the gap’... Stop! Look around to reassess priorities, and then proceed with just the right amount of speed and concern. Thank you for this bit of wisdom that your capture imparts.
