Description

On the road of Saly-Portugal, south of Dakar on the coast, a heavily loaded cart is being pulled by a single donkey. The painful condition of animals in Senegal, a country which does not produce petrol, reflects the condition of most of men, the comfort of life of the huge majority of whom is restricted to a minimum. Thanks to people who commented my two last photos of this Senegal series:

Cars of 2007, Senegal, 1, for Mousson

and

Cars of 2007, Senegal, 2

I dedicate this image to katy555, to wish her the best, as she begins a beautiful and promising photo gallery.
Techdata: Nikon D70 first model with Nikkor 3.5-4.5/18-70 Pro ED at 38mm, ISO 200, aperture-priority automatic, 1/125s at f/14, sun white balance. Slight postwork in Photoshop CS3 Extended to lighten the dark tones (Image > Adjustments > Dark and light tones). I suppressed some electric wires with the Clone Stamp. Do not miss my next posts of this African photographic series… but take care because the two next photographs will have an advisory content, and they may not be good for youngsters. By this series I want to suggest, approaching Christmas holidays, to keep a sweet heart and a concern for poor and suffering people, who are living in hard conditions, on the same planet than us.

My friend has several mules on his ranch. He doesn't utilize them for burden but it turns out they make excellent watchdogs!!

Excellent photo and I just have to feel a bit sorry for the donkey. It appears that he leads a very hard life as does his master. Well done!

Oui.

This is a wonderful image (as are all in this series), both sad, tragic and yet comical at the same time. I'm guessing that load isn't nearly so heavy as it looks and, despite having a hard life, the little donkey looks well cared for.

Splendid capture! The antithesis of the yellow wellington rubber boots with the old fashioned vehicle and cargo makes that photo very interesting.
