Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Once again, I am glad you played it safe. You know how that lava can buckle under your feet. Great shot. See you at lunch today. Aloha

fascinating. The starkness is exciting.

I knew it! With apologies for linking to my own gallery, seeing this in the middle of apparently barren lava was a good clue. I love this photo, Errol. This thing must be huge, to have trees growing out of its sides, and for them to look so small. This looks like a very good argument for staying on the path.

Glad you didn't peek over. Amazing capture of the dual craters. :)
Punaguy
Looks like a pretty dangerous hole here....wish I could see the bottom. But it's probably best to heed the warning signs...don't want to have to read about you in the local paper. Those trees really give scale to the size of this crater....Nice shooting here~ Aloha~
