Description

It was late at night when the Empress docked alongside the tall black ship. Nigh no noises were heard when the captain walked nonchalantly over the gangplank towards the captain’s cabin of the Pearl. The sight she was greeted with when she entered his chamber made her heart clench. Hunched over some sea charts and fast asleep was the man her heart craved for the last years, but which she always denied as her own feelings. When she stepped closer to him, the truth his compass revealed hit her like a tropical typhoon, as it pointed steadily at her. “I missed you too, Jack….” For once in their lifes it seemed that they both had accepted their destiny as their own and Elizabeth had every intention to take advantage of that knowledge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the first time that I got the lights exactly as I wanted them to be! Wow! I should use much more often pointed lights with raytraced shadows... looks far better! ;o) Honestly, I'm totally happy with this image, especially the shadows are my favourite. I tried to render this with depth of field, but this option killed my shadows and I can't have that! Don't know why it is that way, but even as I tried to mix up both versions in postwork, it didn't turn out the way I would have loved it. So I kept it that way. There are many free items I used and especially the wonderful compass that belongs to Jack Sparrow, sorry - Captain Jack Sparrow, made by the amazing markschum! D3 V3 Applecore - Trekkiegirrl Bottle - Trekkiegirrl Flintlock & Tricorne - Cartesius (the best props I've ever bought!) nautical instruments - Andrew Budleigh Lizzie's Coat - RTproductions Stacked Linen - Trekkiegirrl Globe - Tyl2000 Poses - by me Poser 7 Photo Impact 12 for the postwork Thanks so much for taking the time to look and perhaps even leaving a comment! Every word is highly appreciated, though I prefer the honest ones despite the obligatory ones ;o) Now I'm off to comment on your artworks. Hoist the colours high! ~Sassy~

Another lovely image Sassy! I have a feeling the render took forever with all of the different lights you have in the scene, but the results are very well worth the time spent. Great interaction between the characters as well... BEautiful as always. Hope you have a fantastic New Year.

Happy New year Sassy! The difficulty in doing period pieces from this era is getting all the detail and props right, as you can't go sparse as with Sci-fi or an old temple scene. Here though you really sold the scene with all the appropriate props and their placement. The pose work and lighting are great and your Capt. Jack character is dead on. Overall, it's a gorgeous pic, as it always is when you post!
