So what did ye think, friend? That parchment give you an insight as to who Mootill is?
Cool cream on tart berries, eh?
No, no I don't want cream and berries. It be an ‘pression, don't ye know. Meaning that it's just naturally good? Surely ye've heard folk say "cool cream on tart berries" before, no?
No! Just what part of Mernac did ye say ye was from? Ahh that's right, you didn't say did ye. But I 'spect it must be some remote part; ye seem to not have a full understanding of how things be in Mernac. That being the case, ye be sure to ask me any question ye may have. Part of all Scribes' training is in 'splaining the basics. Now 'bout what ye read of Mootill, ye have any queries on that text?
Aye, he is a Fur, but nay, that is not a creature or "strange type of animal" as ye mentioned. That would be an insult. Aye, any of the 20 races would be quite offended if you called them a creature or animal. They are a Race, they have a soul, ye see.
Friend, you look a bit disconcerted. Yer following what I mean aren't ye? Ye do understand about the 20 races, right?
What do ye mean, "What 20 races"? I thought that was the first thing that was 'splained to any children when they get to the age of understanding. Where did ye say ye was from? Ahh, never mind that. I am a Sage and it is a Sage's purpose to answer
queries. Well, never you fret. I can 'splain it for you. Let me finish this mead and then I'll see if I can find a parchment I did on the Races. Did that one almost 200 seasons back when I was but an ‘prentice scribe. 'Course it holds true today just as it did then.
Now ye remember, when I twas telling yer ‘bout the five different types of tales? Good, Good. Us Dwarves r’spect a man that can keep up with what is being said. Now this one not be a Character story like the one on Mootill, This one be what we call a Lore tale. Any good Sage worth even a pinch of salt knows that to spin a good yarn, ye got to have the history and circumstances defined. That be where Lore tales come in. Tis how we define and tell our patrons of what has come before and why tis ‘portant to any tale. Matter of fact, Onas Brushstroke, the very first Sage, said that a legend cannot really be told ‘less first ye research and understand the Lore. That day to this, all the schools fer Scribes and Sages make it a ‘quirement that any Legend written must have some Lore Tale to ‘sport it. That and a Character story so the Sage knows whose perspective to tell the tale from. Also it is advised in our Class by-laws that…
Oh, ‘spose yer right friend, I be getting off of the deer trail a bit. Let me take a sip or three to clear me mind.
By the Mothers, that was good mead. Good thing we got an extra. Do ye mind if I... Ah, Siberlee love ye, thank ye, friend. Yes I would be happy to drink it.
Mayhap we should ask Sallion fer ‘nother or three fer when this one be gone. Hehe, I see yer eyes are already on young Sallion agin. She be a special that one. Got lovely light brown skin like the island girls of Garuff but still has the petite features of a Wood Elf, High Elf even. ‘Nd that long fire red hair is like as not to drive any male crazy. Aye, she certainly has the curves too. Friend stop craning yer neck, let me call her over. If ye be in luck she will bend over the table when she fetches the Mugs. Sallion! Sallion, a few more mugs fer me and the stranger…. ‘nd do ye mind clearing these mugs away.
Ahh go on with ye. For one with such a sweat face ye have a wicked tongue on ye.
