Description
This was taken last November at Shiloh National Military Park, located in West Tennessee, scene of one of the bloodiest battles in the American Civil War. The entire area is preserved and remains as it was left following the unbelievable carnage that once took place there.
Echoes of the past ring loud at Shiloh. You just have to look into the wind at the right angle. There once was a day when cannons like these rang their deafening roar, spewing death and destruction to all in its path.
Rather dramatic commentary for such a peaceful picture, isn't it? But actually the scene I attempt to describe above doesn't even begin to touch on the savagery that took place there 150 years ago.
Today, especially draped with the colors of autumn, it's a beautiful, quiet place to visit. May the souls from that battle walking these fields still to this day eventually find their long sought after peace.
