Description

Hi There First of all thanks for all your comments and helpful suggestions on my previous macro “A First” ... they are most appreciated. I will endeavour to take some more insect macros with my newly gained knowledge when it is more overcast … but that doesn’t seem likely for a while, lots of wind and another really hot, sunny day :( Here is another “first” done with my new cam and lens. I realize now that I should be using a higher FStop and ISO but hay, anything that I was getting a relatively focused shot on I was happy with, lol. Guess I can only get better! A lame title for this I know, I can never think of good ones! As always your advice and comments are welcome. Have a wonderful weekend Noeline :D Info: 100mm EF 2.8 ISO 100 1/400 sec, F2.8 Hand Held, Manual Focus

Very nice, Noeline. I was going to suggest a smaller aperture to get a bigger DOF, but it looks like you're already on that path. DOF is never going to be very deep with this lens, so don't get your hopes up too high.

Great close up of the spider as he weaves through his web! Excellent detail and the subtle and soft colours of the background are just perfect to bring into focus our little insect! :)

This is a super macro and you can see so many details on this fellow. Great lighting on him too.

Macro is not an easy task. I do like the spider and the title says exactly what it is..: ). Yes, lighting is so very critical and you have to use the best you can to get that and keep movement down. I have used a white card at times to reflect more light on the subject but generally the critters are not that patient. I never use flash on these shots..simply concerned about damage to the bug eyes..my thinking anyway. Nice shot and best wishes with a sometimes frustrating type of photography but one which is very rewarding when "that special shot" really looks really really good when opened for a full view.

wonderful shot! I do like the colors and placement of the spider. The only thing that I would improve is a better focus on the body of the critter- there is some nice pattern to be seen. it also helps to take a couple shots from different viewpoints.
