Description

More ships this week done in recent months. At the moment I am trying some new programs, and I have managed to see many other artists work in the last couple of weeks, which has been enjoyable. I hope my comments were meaningful and welcome. Checkout my gallery. It's very varied with some big surprises. Daz|Studio, Bryce and Photoshop. The ships are from here and DAZ. dmrc_enabled_wbtn.gif

I cannot pick on this one technically in any way. It is very well modelled and composed. Did you use terrain mapping for the water slashes?

Excellent scene! The water looks a bit too much like a mirror, I mean too calm for an ocean. But the water and bomb/fire effects look great and the light is excellent.

Wow dude, you seem to have gotten the ship scenes down to a tee. Great explosion/splash effects. The calm sea contrasts with the battle but maybe it is a little too calm a sloulv said. Maybe the reflections are just a tad high? How are you getting the sea splashes/foam to hit against the ship?. Well done. ;-)

The sea is extra smooth this time for a reflections exercise. I've done waves. The splashes smoke and fire are done in photoshop.

Wonderful nautical action scene and I admire your postwork in Photoshop, this is an area I need to investiagte. I agree with Jordanholmes in that the sea is perhaps too calm for a battle scene but this does not detract from a great image. Great to see the tilt of the ship that's just been hit. Tony :-)

You have thought of everything with this one. Even down to the splashes in the water made by the cannon balls which missed their intended targets. The aged and worn look of the sails and the postwork gun-fire and smoke is most impressive. Thanks for sharing your render.

Great effects and a good scene. Only crit would be that the wind would have to be going in two opposite directions for the ships to have wind in their sails but heading in opposite directions. They both should be going in the same direction.

Look at the flags kenwas. The wind is coming across. They knew how to do things with their ship in those days... they had too! Otherwise they were in danger of being 'raked'. That's when the opposing ship crosses the bow or stern and fires all it's cannons in turn down the length of the ship... deadly!

Further to my recent comment: Although this is more realistic looking perhaps, most of my ship pictures are meant to emulate the style of nineteenth century marine art which often have little to do with reality and much more to do with the spirit of adventure and imagination!
