I Can't Connect!!!
So here I am
Sittin in my chair
With my coffee
With my laptop
I've read the paper
Done the crossword
And now I'm ready
To turn on the computer
All ready to check my email
To see who's doin what
To see who's said what
To whom and why
And I can't connect
OMG--- I can't connect
I try and I try and I try
Every which way
And I still can't connect
So, ok, take a deep breath
Turn it off turn it on
And I still can't connect
Ok, breathe, go check the pc
Nope, can't connect there either
So wtf is going on
What AM I going to do
I call tech support
You know how helpful THEY are
Nothing works but then he says
Oh, I think there's a problem in your area
But it will be fixed in an hour
My neighbors aren't having any trouble
They're online just fine
So wtf is WRONG
I make some calls
And finally the genius says
Maybe it's the modem
There's a new one on the back porch
So I unplug the old one
Plug in the new one
Turn it on
I AM BACK ONLINE!!!
Now I can breathe

Well, now what a coincidence, Marilyn. I couldn't connect this morning, either. My tech support told me to unplug my modem and then plug it back in. After about 3 minutes, back up and online once again. Seems as tho, from the tech, one has to do this every so often. How ridiculous is that? Twilight zone, here, Marilyn....LOL

I was just going to tell you about Keith but I see he's beaten me to it. I've just been at my Dad's today getting him back on-line, after 1 week off-line whilst I rebuilt his PC. I think I'll email him your poem, I think it could have been written for him. Tony :-)

What a coincidence! I can't connect is the same thing I yelled on Monday morning when I picked up the phone and detected no dial tone. I picked up the receiver and layed it down on the cradle several times and still no tone. I was, for all intents and purposes, incommunicado with the rest of the world! So, I ran over to the neighbor and used her phone to contact telephone repair. After several minutes explaining my problem to an automatic answering system, it took most of the day before I could call out, and it then took 24 hours more to receive incoming calls. But everything is hunky-dory now. Fortunately, the glitch did not affect my ability to use the computer, and interface with Renderosity and the ebots I received and dispatched.

Oh how twenty-first century! Modem problems are the new scourge of this age! Great writing, great artwork! I love the jarring, brilliant angst-implying colors in the art!!! Fantastic writing too! WOW! You're on a roll! I can see these collected together into a single volume! I love the art style too...it's deliciously raw, as I said before, and I love it!
