Description

This is at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. I was there right after Christmas with my two sisters and their families. I took this foto while I was waiting for all of them; they were parking and I was just wandering around. This seagull was sitting on the fence post, and let me get right in his face; I swear he was posing for me!!

I don't know about Polly wanting a cracker but I think this is a 'Cracker' of a shot, and I love the postwork. The bright red looks like it might be a handrail boy does it stand out and a perfect perch for the gull. Just the right for snapping. Bravo!!!!!

A great capture of Jonathan's brother! He's probably just waiting for ol' Jon to get back from his trip to Sacramento. Nice capture - love the postwork!

He was so stately I thought for a moment he was another one of your yard sculptures! Fabulous and what a great feeling to be able to be in close and lock eyes in a chance meeting. Into the favs this goes. :-)

Superb capture and postwork of the stately bird, Marilyn, apparently accustomed to people coming up close. It may have been expecting a handout in return for posing.

Gorgeous, Marilyn, simply gorgeous! The image itself, raw and unaltered is already superb, I can tell...because the post work done here is so subtle and unobtrusive--if there's even any post work at all! THAT is the mark of true artistry. The colors are brilliant, the composition is super! In short, this is definitely one of my favorites, as it shows one thing, but implies a whole range of emotions, ranging from something quiet and meditative, to a mild, but pervasive sense of anticipation...it reminds me of the quandary that Wallace Stevens wrote in his poem, "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird." In one of the stanzas, he states: "I do not know which to prefer/the beauty of inflection or the beauty of innuendo/the blackbird singing/or just after." This image reminds me of that, because there is definitely a bit of both in this...inflection and innuendo...the image itself, or the millions of things it could imply. Fantastic, rich work!
