Description

Upload: 036 V Title: el capitan Series: South Market Street Project Location: San Francisco, California Date: November 14, 2007 Image: N07657M1c Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame Commentary: It has been some time since I have last uploaded, especially since this photograph is the last in this series of three. In the future I hope to be uploading on a more regular bases, especially since my return to college, where I am taking an advance course in Alternative Materials in Painting. In regards to this evening’s image, it comes from the same eighty-foot long wall at a construction sight as the previous two photographs and reflects a little of the Hispanic community and their political views. After having taken the photograph, I started to wonder why here in the US we have no posters addressing political issues or even of political candidates? In Europe and other parts of the world, when there are elections, there are the posters of candidates all over the place, but none to be found here.

Special thanks to the following individuals who have added me as their Favorite Artist or Favorite Image; JillianElf stboettcher meta4icalme delaorden_ojeda xxancroft TwoPynts urbin helanker Margana A very special thank you to amlondono and withinme for having selected multiple favorite images to her favorite gallery.

it is an interesting image, politics here seem more calculating than emotional... less propoganda visuals to deal with (the power of the image).. most of the poltical posters I see here are "vote for", with a name and poltitcal party. I see these stuck on lawns throughout some of the neighborhoods, during elections.. bumper stickers are big.

So true Zoren, but I see these too and for me these lawn posters are not the traditional kind we find elsewhere in the world and I have to admit, I miss them.

Its very interesting to see these old posters of the past. I'm glad they are not holding the modern day type of weapons. Interesting shot. Aloha

Very powerful poster, the power of the people or for others the thread of the crowd! Fantastic shot, professionally presented!

Thats a achieved construction of an historical photography with your style. But youre lucky in the US if theres no political posters in the streets. Here they are almost in the soap! Bright artwork, Egmont!

HA ! ... a different approach, not just a clic on the camera ! But something more 'obscura'... Very nice work, and very curious, because we need to stop and listen/read/calm down in front of your picture... This really intersting, i'm curious to see more :o) ... So, you -> in my fav :oD

YAY! You are back and so are your wonderful Poster Shots. Welcome. This is fabulous and I like it very much. :))) Yes you are right. Here in DK there are posters every where, when we have election, but they are hanging with robe or other, so they are easy to take down again. So posters like this are more rare.

Interesting comments your image provokes, esp. from Zoren. A rare find, and a good one, and you composed it wonderfully Egmont. Hey, I know I've favorited you and your work in your past...now I feel left out. ;'] Here's hoping to seeing more of you soon, great series.

An interesting image of a political subject Egmont. Interesting narrative. I think that we don't have posters like these in the US is that everything is on television. Maybe they think that in this country where 'time is money', people wouldn't take the time to stop and read them, Sig....

Happy New Year Egmont!! Another excellent Papier Colle assemblage beautifully composed and framed. Good insight into your political landscape. Will be interesting to see whether people start taking to the streets as the recession starts to grip. regards Paul

Another wonderfully thought-provoking imagae Egmont although politics is not my scene at all and I tend to steer away from it (my ignorance kicking in I suppose?!) but as far as artistic talent is concerned, I think you have achieved another very creative piece of work. Good luck on your new course too. Hugs Chrissy xx

Well you know that putting posters up would require funds! LOL This is a wonderfully political statement and great collage work. I look forward to you sharing some of that interesting class with us and it is good to see a post from you my friend, they are always a pleasure and thoughtful.
