Description

a very good morning to you all :o) well i read every comment carefully and took note of what everyone said and i have to agree ,now that i`ve looked more at the pic of ashleigh the more i see it from other points of view .i think i was looking at it just from a grandads pov which blinded me a bit. so yesterday afternoon after going out to the pensioners club for our dinner (the pub really :o))i took this pic of june ,well actually i took loads of pics of june .i used one of the material`s i`d bought off the market and threw it over the settee and started snapping away with different settings and this one i thought was the best one . please help again as i learnt a lot yesterday i think and hopefully got this one nearer how it should be . thank you so much my great friends for your comments and support :o) mick

This is a fabulous portrait Mick, looks like you just said something amusing and gave her this wonderful natural smile. I like the dark background and I don't know if you used flash but the light source looks natural. IMHO.

This is wonderful! The light looks very natural, and the dark background works great! Just for information and practice, I might do a setup like this and take several different shots with the same pose, camera settings and lighting, just changing out the drape. It wouldn't have to be anything fancy - throw different colored blankets or sheets or raincoats or something behind your model - just to see what you think about textures and colors - how they interact with the subject, what they do in the light. Your portrait of Ashleigh was brilliant, btw. You caputred her perfectly! It was only the color of the wall that was an issue.

I just echo what Tara as said Mick, she's spot on. Just try different backgounds, light dark smooth creased or rumpled. This one does look quite nice actually, it looks like a textured wall, but June stands out bright and bubbly. I know you are biased but she does have a beautiful smile, but then she's looking straight at the man she loves. Excellent work mate. Bravo!!!!!

Beautiful portrait! I'd say you are on the right track with the background. Soft light is best for portraits, and the more natural, the better, it seems. I still think PJ has found a secret with her workbench light. We need to ask her what kind of bulb that lamp uses. ;o)
