Description

I went down to the local Fire Station last Sunday, they had an open day of sorts. Unusual to have one at this time of year, with it being so cold and wet, it usually takes place in August. They are having problems at the momment with the local(Rochdale) council, they have slapped a preservation notice on the Fire Station and it will require about £2.5 million spending on it to bring it up to standard as the council have stipulated that only certain materials can be used. The Fire Service can have a brand new modern Fire Station built for £2.00 million, so it looks like the present one will close in about two years. One of the problems is that the new station will not have room for the Fire Service Museum, which is currently at Rochdale. 'Watch this space for updates' I took a few pics whilst there and with quite a few reflection pics being posted I thought I would upload this one. The Drill Tower seen in the reflections is the main case for putting the preservation order on the Station which was built by the way in 1933. I will be posting more from here over the next few days. Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make, I do appreciate each and every one. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.

Peel a boo! I see you. A wonderful shot and reflection, dear Jeff Interesting information too. Where would we all be without our brave firefighters. Superb work. Sunshine hugs from a bitterly cold Bay... :-) Diane.

Wow! a very impressive POV, looks great Zoomed-in and on the lower rim of the bell the reflection shows YOURSELF and the WHOLEYARD clearly. I have a mate that worked 30 years in the fire service, most served here in Rochdale, he retired early. He said there was great comradeship all worked hard and played hard. Roger took me round there one day just to see a mate of his but I've still never been round the Museum part for a close look.
