Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Have to agree with Thelby on this one Marilyn, kind of sad this but still very good prose. I'm about 17 miles North of Manchester UK, the town of Rochdale, the home of the Co-op, the Rochdale Pioneers, of Gracie Fields, and Sir Cyril Smith. The world record holders of, wait for it, drum roll, tossing(the worlds largest pancake, that is).lol. So thats where I am. Excellent work Marilyn, I love it. Bravo!!!!!

I love this poem. It's another evocative gem that calls up a whole range of emotions, and the image that accompanies it is brilliant. I love the whole thing. It has the feel of poetry, a ballad, and a few other wonderfully poetic forms. This is superb work on every count!

"Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?" I love the evocative mood you've created with this poem. There's a bit of sadness for what's being lost, of course, but there's also a real sense of moving on. It's the tenses you've used, the way it flows. Good stuff, my friend!

Your words along with the pic are really deep, Marilyn. Perfect duo. This one is definitely one to contemplate on and think about. I think we as a species, often times take too much and each other for granted. Thanks for sharing this one.

your verses remind me of my Nanna, she would write all the time about anything and everything, they were always a joy to read just as yours are!

One of these days, you're gonna miss me, baby... Anyway, auntietk's comments in re your prose reflect my own. Terrific mood effect in this sepia tone image, Marilyn, and I really like the silhouetting of the barren trees against the somber sky.

wonderful words

Very nice. Some people just take it for granted that you will always be there and they don't have to pay any attention to you. Some have to learn the hard way. Very good writing my friend :)
