Description

Well, I missed my own anniversary, #200!! Just looked at the wrong number, thought I had another week. Hardly matters, so here's my slightly late pic!! This is also at the beach, a tidal pond created by the very high surf we've been having this year. These monster waves have completely changed this beach, wiped out almost a mile of dunes, taken over the adjacent pasture, and humbled us once again. Even the other day when I was there, I wouldn't get close to the water, those waves were nasty, and more than once, just the backwash almost got me. Sneaky devils they are, to be treated with great respect!!

Is it because of the poetry Marilyn? Does that count or not? Congratulations on 202 then, I never look at the number of pics, I couldn't tell you how many I've done unless I go and check.lol. This looks like an awful lot of water for a pond, a beautiful colour though. Have a nice weekend now. Bravo!!!!!

Yep, high water and waves can completely change things forever. That's exactly how the Outer Banks in NC were created as well as Ocean City, MD. Great water and reflects, Marilyn. And looking forward to the next 200 images.

202 - you need 201 to get this. And we are happy to have them all. Nice one. Thank you. sam.

I am always fearful of rogue waves on the upper California coast. The one time I got brave and scaled down a cliff to the rocks to do some tidal pool fishing, I knew I had done something wrong. It took two men up-top to pull on the rope to help me climb straight up the side of the cliff before the waves that took the small muddy trail away in a flash (that I used to get down), took me out as well. These pools always hold such tiny temporary things to poke at and are so much safer.

Ooh, congratulations on your post-200th post! And what a post this is. It took me a moment to fully grasp what I was seeing. The POV here is wonderful, and hints at more than a few mysteries. There's also an oddly dream-like quality to this image: the colors are so calm and restful, but the stillness of the water itself implies that there is a depth in which mysterious things may lie. Great work on this one...fantastic presentation. I love the reflections, the play of light, shadow, and color...but the reflections in particular; you see them, but you don't see their ultimate source. This is a great play on viewer perceptions, and it forces you to consider what you're seeing and what angle you're looking at it from. I love it when art (especially photography) forces you to re-evaluate your general position in life, whether literally or metaphorically. I love this piece.
