Description
I see most people would like to see the house boats. first i show this cypress houst you saw. a old man saw it here on my computor and he say the wood is cypress and it is on stilts Been there a long time and it good I did not get on the poarch for I be trespassing. I did see some stuff in the house but the shot did not come out.
Now remember I moveing in a boat and I know I got a $1600 camera in my hands so I did not wish to move around the boat much. I sirprise that these shots came out so good I took around 700 and so far I deleted 24 photos. I just looked at around 200 . I know some is like 50 of them i keep just for memory guess we all have those shot a little off but still keep for keep sakes.
Oh This house is out in the water. look on the lower left photo and you see the tree line with another house boat and that how far it out in the water. Only way here is by boat.

my son say just seeing this house was worth the trip along; he right too.
may post one of a far shot of this place to show the area around it.
I had on a 70x250 mm lens then i change it to a 18x135mm lens and I had a polerzie filter on it. I shows the sky blue and the real color of the water for i got shots that have the water blue too. I show them later on. Mud is the color of water around here most the time.

lower right photo I had my sun hood loss and did not know it but I tighten it up on the next shot. I happy I did not lose it in the water

So great. This is a wonderful tour of the outside of this old house. Sort of has a bit of lean to it. Might make it hard to set a glass of coke down on the table...:-) I also think it might do well with some new stilts - something maybe about 3 feet higher at least. Still, it must be wicked spending a night out on that thing. Guess it could have a nutria problem after dark or even slithering guests that come on board. Fabulous!

Jocko, last time I looked a few years ago in the bayous...most of the cypress was cut and gone. I am glad to see this house. Cypress stays around even when dummies cut all the trees.

This is so different from anything up here! (Seattle) Thank you for all these wonderful shots! Nothing is flat in this area. It's all hills, from the water to the top of the Cascades! We don't have anything like a bayou, either. Just the sloughs, where the rivers empty into the Sound. I love seeing your area of the world!

I was told by a former Orleans resident displaced by the last hurricane that so many shacks like these made it through without a scratch but the newer homes folded like a wet box.I am glad you posted these Jock. they are so interesting to see.I have painted houses that had Cypress siding that had been on the house since the 1920's.one house the people had 2 large dogs and they had chewed several sidings which were Cypress. I could not buy it here locally and used red wood to replace the damaged planks
