ABOUT JAMES LYONS
Like most other artists I have been involved with creating art in one form or another for most of my life.
My mother got me started at a very young age when she taught me how to draw small airplanes dropping bombs on people(that should have been a clue!)
After a long stint in the Marine Corps that included combat in Operation Desert Storm, I went back to my art and started anew.
Needless to say as the years passed by my work improved. In my artistic pursuit I have worn many different hats. I have done both mechanical and architectural drafting, sculpture, both acrylic and oil painting, watercolor and now, finally, I have entered the magical realm of painting with pixels!
I have had a lot of encouragement along the way and I sincerely appreciate all the help, be it a kind word or tip on how to do something better or the support that I have from family and friends!
A larger body of my work can be found here: The Art of James Lyons
My biography wouldn't be complete without mentioning some of my artistic influences, in no particular order they would be: Larry Elmore, Toxicangel, Ravenheart, Royo, Todd Lockwood, Matt Stawicki,  Nene Thomas &  Clyde Caldwell

nice model..(not sure if it's yours?) anyhow..I like the pose..but the light seem off...Seems this scene has ALLOT of light bouncing around off the clouds and your shadows are very dark..almost black which looks out of place. Also the atmoshere seems quite thick..i think all the planes would have a little fog on them..though the ones on the back would be much lighter. Also, the ambient light is very blue and purple..being the opposite of yellow, that nose, when lit by that color light, would be much more muted. Anyhow..you have the start of a very dynamic shot! Good luck with it. Pete

Awesome color contrasts, shadow and play of light. The 109's gray colors play off the purple clouds brilliantly. I love the 109, and you've captured it excellently. Bravo!

Beautifully done! Commanded by the then Colonel Adolf Galland JG 26 indeed made a formidable foe for the British and the Americans. One of the top scoring aces of all times and I believe he became a full general at 30 the youngest since Napoleon.
